TOURNAMENTS
ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT (LOW INTERMEDIATE)
Join our Round Robin Tournament for Low Intermediate Players! This tournament is not suitable for first-time players, as participants are required to know the rules and have played before. You will compete on the Intermediate/Advanced courts, alongside players who are not among the strongest. The skill rating for this tournament ranges from 2.75 to 3.25 (if you know your rating). We have 8 players, so there’s no waiting! At the end of the tournament, a champion will be crowned. Could it be you? In each match, you will be paired with a different partner and face totally different teams. Remember to enter all your matches into DUPR.
If you need to cancel, you will receive Club Credit, which can be used towards your next play session. Please note that refunds will not be issued. The cancellation cutoff is 4 hours prior to the event start time. No credits will be issued for cancellations made less than 4 hours prior to the event.
ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT (HIGH INTERMEDIATE)
Are you a high intermediate player looking for some competitive action? Join our Round Robin Tournament designed specifically for high intermediate players! Like the Low Intermediate Tournament, this one takes place on the Intermediate/Advanced courts. However, in this tournament, you will be among the strongest players and compete on the Challenge Courts. The skill rating for this tournament ranges from 3.25 to 4.0 (if you know your rating). Similar to the other tournament, we have 8 players and no waiting. A champion will be crowned, and it could be you! Each match will pair you with a different partner and pit you against totally different teams.
KING OF THE HILL
If you thrive on intense games and want to prove yourself, our King of the Hill event is perfect for you! The concept is simple: win, and you move up; lose, and you move down. The games are timed, with each point counting in the 11-minute duration. When the timer goes off, if you’re ahead, you win. In case of a tie, the next serve decides the match. Remember not to serve into the net! In this event, you will switch partners for every game. If you find yourself on the top court for most of the day, consider yourself the “King of the Hill” (or Queen or whatever title you prefer—I personally like “Jester”!)
CLINICS
BEGINNER’S CLINIC (NOVICE)
If you’re new to pickleball, our Novice Beginner’s Clinic is the perfect place to start. In this clinic, you will learn the basic rules, shots, strategies, court positioning, and how to keep score. By the end of the class, you’ll be equipped to play a full game of pickleball. Once you complete this course, you can move on to the Improver Fundamentals Skills Package to enhance your techniques and strategies for playing effectively with others. This clinic is suitable for novice-level players, and no prerequisites are required. Each clinic lasts for 1 hour and costs $50 per student. We aim to have at least 4 students in each clinic, so don’t forget to invite your friends!
Intermediate Clinic – 3.5 Level
Our Intermediate Clinic is tailored for players who have developed the ability to hit consistent shots and apply strategies effectively. The focus of this clinic is on shot diversity, game IQ, reading opponents, mastering the transition zone, advanced serving and return of serve techniques, strategic and aggressive dinking and dropshots, speed-ups, and counter-attacking. Patience and shot placement at a high level will be emphasized. Each clinic will focus on one or two specific skills or strategies.
Level Up to 3.25 Intermediate
If you’re looking to level up your game and continue improving, our Level Up to 3.25 Intermediate classes are perfect for you. Each class is designed for players at a specific skill level, helping them develop and enhance specific skill sets. In these classes, you will learn new advanced shots and strategies that will take your game to the next level. To join these classes, you should have a basic understanding of the rules of the game, players’ court positions, and how to keep score. This class is recommended for players at a 3.0 skill level.
Improver Clinic 3.0 Intermediate
Our Improver Clinic is designed for players with good fundamental skills and understanding of basic strategies. This clinic focuses on slightly more aggressive shots, such as top-spin and slice, backhand flick and forehand roll, overhead volley, dropshots, and dinks. Strategic shot placement and selection are also covered. Each clinic will work on one or two specific skills or strategies.
Beginner Fundamentals Clinic – 2.5 Level
For players who have already taken the Introduction to Pickleball Clinic or have some basic experience with the game, our Beginner Fundamentals Clinic is a great option. In this clinic, you will learn and develop fundamental skill sets, including the ready stance position, court positioning and strategies, as well as basic forehand and backhand swings, serving, returning the serve, dinking, volley, dropshot, and drive shot. Each clinic will focus on one or two fundamental aspects of the game.

Lisa Duncan
A sports lover at just 6 years old, Lisa began as a softball player in middle school.
She picked up tennis her junior year of highschool and went on to become the team’s #1 seed in just a year, She went on to play at Riverside Community College and ranked #16 in the state during her run. This earned her a full D2 athletic scholarship.
Lisa has taught beginner and advanced level tennis and is now teaching pickleball at all levels. She is highly passionate about the sport, and extremely personable, with a joy of seeing everyone succeed, socially and athletically!
Ho Nguyen
Instructor Ho Nguyen is both a USA Pickleball Ambassador and a PPR Certified Coach. He has been a mentor to Ambassador Mike throughout Mike’s pickleball journey. Ho is a beloved instructor, and you’ll absolutely enjoy working with him. In his own words:
“I was born in Vientiane, Laos, and immigrated with my parents and six siblings, sponsored by a church, to Newton, North Carolina. I grew up playing and competing in various sports, such as baseball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2001, my wife and I moved to Santa Monica, California, where she pursued her career in cosmetology. In 2018, my surfing buddy introduced me to pickleball at Memorial Park in Santa Monica, and that marked the beginning of my pickleball journey.
Today, I enjoy competing in pickleball tournaments with my wife and serving as the USA Pickleball Ambassador of Santa Monica. In 2021, I became a PPR Certified Pickleball instructor, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to help hundreds of students develop and improve their skills. In 2022, I founded the non-profit Santa Monica Pickleball Club, which now has over 1,000 members.
My teaching approach, which I call ‘Tai Chi Pickleball,’ is unique. I focus on helping students ‘feel’ the game in their bodies, developing control and composure that build muscle memory for consistently effective play. Since every student learns and plays in their own unique way, I meet each individual where they are and tailor my instruction to their needs and goals. I love working with players of all levels, from beginners to intermediate and advanced players.
I’m excited to work with you and help you achieve your pickleball goals. Let’s go!”
